TIG welding (argon arc welding) is a versatile technology for welding metal products using tungsten electrodes. Today, TIG welding is widely used in heavy industry, manufacturing, automotive service centers, and other applications.
Applications of TIG welding
TIG welding is one of the most versatile welding methods because it can reliably join different types of metal, including steel. In some cases, dissimilar alloys can also be welded together.
TIG welding is mainly used for stainless steel and non-ferrous metals. This is related to the specific requirements of the process: welding takes place in an inert-gas environment without oxygen, which is a powerful oxidizer. When argon enters the molten zone, it displaces the air and creates optimal conditions for scale-free welding. TIG welding also works well with metal parts made from other alloys, creating bimetallic joints. It is therefore versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications.
One of the main advantages of TIG welding is the ability to weld thin-walled parts, pipes, and thin profiles, which is not possible with conventional arc-welding modes.
