Pultrusion dies are specialized forming tools designed to be installed on a pultrusion line. They are highly durable. As glass-fiber strands are pulled through the die, its geometry determines the required cross-section, producing different types of GFRP profiles.
Forming dies are tools with different shapes and configurations. They can be round, oval, or rectangular. Since dies are used directly in the production process and are continuously heated to high temperatures, they must have high strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and chemical resistance.
If dies are manufactured poorly or from low-quality materials, they will wear out quickly. During operation, the forming cavity may also change size, resulting in low-quality profiles.
Pultrusion dies are made from noble metals or alloyed heat-resistant steel with a special coating. Substitute materials for precious metals are also available.
