An oil-hydraulic power unit works by generating pressure in the actuator by pumping hydraulic fluid through a closed circuit. In most cases, the required pressure cannot be generated without an oil-hydraulic power unit.
Depending on their application, hydraulic power units may be mobile, stationary, or self-propelled; they differ in functionality, dimensions, and power consumption. They are also classified by pressure: low (˂16 MPa), medium (16–45 MPa), high (45–155 MPa), and ultra-high (above 155 MPa).
When selecting a unit, rely on the technical specifications stated by the manufacturer. If the hydraulic fluid flow rate is lower than required by the actuator, output will decrease because the equipment will operate more slowly. Exceeding the required specifications may result in equipment failure.
