Industrial processes often require different components to be mixed until a homogeneous suspension is obtained. Dissolver mixers are used for this purpose. Dissolver mixers are industrial mixers with different specifications, designed to thoroughly mix components with different physical and mechanical properties.
The main components of a dissolver mixer are
Metal frame. It supports all the machine assemblies. Depending on the production conditions, the frame may be mobile and telescopic or stationary. The dissolver mixer frame must be extremely strong and able to withstand heavy loads. That is why Ivanovo Mechanical Plant dissolver mixers are manufactured from high-grade steel and coated with special protective compounds to ensure long service life.
Electric motor. The motor generates torque for the disperser blade. Motor specifications depend directly on the operating conditions. Ivanovo Mechanical Plant equips dissolver mixers with motors rated up to 30 kW. At the customer request, the dissolver mixer can also be equipped with an explosion-proof electric motor.
Mixer and disperser blade. The standard configuration includes a high-speed disperser blade. Depending on the mixture components and process technology, the dissolver blade may have different shapes and diameters to achieve the required result quickly. Taking the customer requirements and the properties of the materials being mixed into account, Ivanovo Mechanical Plant equips dissolver mixers with one or two mixers. A slow-speed anchor mixer can be added to the main high-speed disperser. This improves the quality of the final product.
Mixing vessel. The mixture is prepared inside the vessel. Depending on the dissolver mixer specifications and the application, vessels can have different volumes and may be made of plastic, stainless steel or other materials.
Variable frequency drive. At the customer request, Ivanovo Mechanical Plant equips its dissolver mixers with a variable frequency drive (VFD). It allows the shaft speed to be adjusted from 0 to 3,000 rpm and speed profiles to be programmed over time.
Operating principle of a dissolver mixer
Operating the dissolver mixer and producing the final product involves several process stages.
- The vessel is filled with liquid and dry components. This stage can be performed manually, with an operator responsible for adding the components and monitoring the vessel fill level, or automatically, with electronic scales controlling the supply of the required quantities. The process is designed so that dry components are added to the liquid that is already in the vessel. This helps reduce the risk of stagnant zones forming and dry materials sticking to the vessel walls.
- Once the vessel has been filled, the dissolver mixer is switched on and the disperser blade speed is selected. The duration of this stage is normally set according to the mixing process. The components are broken down and a homogeneous mass is formed throughout the vessel.
- Additional fillers are added to the mixture and blended. These fillers are often dyes and pigments.
- After mixing is complete, the vessel with the finished mixture is removed from the mixing area and moved to the application or filling area.
