TIG welding (argon arc welding) is a versatile technology for welding metal products with tungsten electrodes. Today, TIG welding is widely used in heavy industry, manufacturing, automotive service and other fields.
Applications of TIG welding
TIG welding is one of the most versatile welding methods because it can reliably join various metals. In some cases, it can even weld dissimilar alloys.
TIG welding is mainly used for stainless steel and nonferrous metals. Welding takes place in an inert-gas atmosphere without oxygen, a powerful oxidizer. When argon enters the fusion zone, it displaces air and creates optimal conditions for scale-free welding. It also welds metal parts made of other alloys well, creating bimetallic joints, so it is versatile.
One of the main advantages of TIG welding is the ability to weld thin-walled parts, pipes and thin profiles, which is not possible with conventional arc welding.
