TIG welding (gas tungsten arc welding) is a versatile technology for joining metal products using tungsten electrodes. Today, TIG welding is widely used in heavy industry, manufacturing, auto service, and other fields.
TIG welding applications
TIG welding is one of the most versatile welding methods because it can reliably join different types of metal. In some cases, it can even join dissimilar alloys.
TIG welding is mainly used for stainless steel and non-ferrous metals because of the nature of the process. During TIG welding, the weld is formed in an inert-gas environment without oxygen, which is a powerful oxidizer. When argon enters the weld pool, it displaces the air and creates optimal conditions for melting without scale. TIG welding also joins metal parts made of other alloys effectively, creating bimetallic connections; it is therefore versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications.
One of the main advantages of TIG welding is the ability to weld thin-walled parts, pipes, and thin profiles, which is not possible in the same way with conventional arc welding.
