A product manufactured by casting, bending, cutting or another method may look complete but is not yet a finished product. Metal surface treatment is required to complete the product.
A properly ground metal surface is an important indicator of product quality.
The strength, mechanical properties, performance, tightness, service life, appearance and future friction with other components depend on how well the workpiece surface is treated. Surface roughness is determined using physical parameters that describe the frequency and height of irregularities.
To achieve the required roughness, parts undergo finishing and final surface treatment.
Metal surface treatment methods include:
- grinding;
- lapping and fine finishing;
- diamond smoothing;
- honing;
- superfinishing;
- polishing.
