Sheet Metal Bending
NPO Zvezda performs sheet metal bending of varying complexity. This service is a metalworking operation that mechanically processes metal blanks. It uses spatial deformation to achieve the required geometry. The material configuration changes under physical force — pressure applied to a specific part of the surface. The required force and direction are produced by combining hydraulic mechanisms with a press. The force may act directly on part of the workpiece or be transferred through a tool that creates the required deformation.
The process supports various metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, and brass. The raw material consists of sheet or bar blanks. Bending complexity depends on machine capabilities. According to their operating principle, machines in this category are divided into three groups:
- Rotary. This type of machine is used to create angled shapes. Its main elements are stops, clamping beams, and bending beams.
- Rotary. These machines have an elongated design that allows large blanks to be processed.
- Universal. In these machines, blanks are placed in special dies that give them the required configuration. They provide the widest range of deformation parameters.

Metal Preparation Before Bending
The accuracy and quality of finished-product shapes largely depend on the quality of the raw material and its preparation for processing. Our specialists pay close attention to every preparatory operation. We normally use blanks from our own stock, but the customer may also supply the material.
Before bending begins, product surfaces are carefully inspected for critical deformation and contamination. Debris and excess coatings can deform sheets, distort their shape, and cause dents. The blank surfaces are thoroughly cleaned when necessary.
Automated Sheet Metal Bending for Various Levels of Complexity
Sheet metal bending is a labor-intensive and complex task. We bend steel and other metals. Accurate shaping requires uniform force and continuous control of the applied load and blank position. A high level of production automation ensures reliable execution of every operation.
Our workshops use modern machines. They require minimal operator intervention, significantly reducing human-factor errors. Numerous sensors monitor operating accuracy, and additional inspection of finished products prevents defective items from being delivered.

- Preparation. We develop the process sequence from samples, drawings, or technical specifications. The schedule and cost are calculated on the basis of the resulting project.
- Approval. The customer receives finished samples. Changes to the design and production documentation can also be made at this stage. Manufacturing begins after approval.
- Manufacturing. We have all the resources needed to produce parts, blanks, and finished products of varying complexity. All process operations are performed in-house without subcontractors.
- Delivery. Transportation parameters depend on the individual order conditions. The cost is affected by the order volume, destination distance, and route complexity.
Production time can be reduced if you provide finished drawings. If you do not have them, our engineers will promptly develop a project from scratch in strict accordance with the technical specifications.
