Production often requires different components to be mixed until a homogeneous suspension is obtained. Industrial dissolver mixers are used for this purpose. Dissolvers are industrial mixers with different specifications, designed to thoroughly mix components with different physical and mechanical properties.
The Main Components of a Dissolver Are
Metal frame. It provides the mounting points for all assemblies. Depending on the production conditions, the frame may be mobile and telescopic or stationary. The dissolver frame must be extremely strong and withstand heavy loads. That is why Ivanovo Mechanical Plant dissolvers are made of high-grade steel and coated with special protective compounds to ensure a long service life.
Electric motor. The motor's main purpose is to generate torque for the dispersing blade. Motor specifications depend directly on the operating conditions. Ivanovo Mechanical Plant equips dissolvers with motors rated up to 30 kW. At the customer's request, a dissolver can also be equipped with an explosion-proof electric motor.
Agitator and dispersing blade. In the standard configuration, the dissolver is equipped with a high-speed dispersing agitator. Depending on the mixture components and the process technology, the dissolver blade may have different shapes and diameters to achieve the desired result quickly. Taking the customer's tasks and the parameters of the substances being mixed into account, Ivanovo Mechanical Plant equips dissolvers with one or two agitators. A low-speed frame agitator can be added to the main high-speed dispersing agitator. This improves the quality of the final product.
Mixing tank. The mixture is prepared in the tank. Depending on the dissolver's technical specifications and the task, tanks can have different volumes and be made of plastic, stainless steel or other materials.
Variable-frequency drive. At the customer's request, Ivanovo Mechanical Plant equips its dissolvers with a variable-frequency drive. It makes it possible to regulate shaft speed from 0 to 3,000 rpm and program its speed modes over time.
How a Dissolver Works
Operating a dissolver and producing the final product consists of several process stages.
- The tank is filled with liquid and dry components. This can be done manually, with an operator responsible for adding components and monitoring the tank level, or automatically, with electronic scales regulating the feed of the required amount of product. The process is arranged so that dry components are added to the prepared liquid. This reduces the risk of dead zones forming and dry substances sticking to the tank walls.
- After the tank is filled, the dissolver is switched on and the dispersing-blade speed is selected. This stage usually has a fixed duration depending on the mixture-preparation technology. During this stage, the components are broken down and a homogeneous mass is created throughout the tank.
- Additional fillers are added to the mixture and blended. These fillers are often dyes and pigments.
- After mixing is complete, the tank containing the finished mixture is removed from the mixing area and moved to the application area or filling area.
